The Villa
There are 3 bedrooms, each with its own ensuite bathroom with shower. 2 bedrooms have king size beds and 1 bedroom as two twin beds. A baby Cot is available upon request. High quality bed linen throughout. The twin bedded room has air conditioning, other rooms have ceiling fans and standing fans.
The house is a mixture of local materials and local detailing with a clean, contemporary architecture. There is a large open plan living and kitchen area on the ground floor. Outside covered dining area and a open air living space on the second floor that benefits form a lovelsoft breeze and a leafy sunset view
The house has a swimming pool and is 25 meters form the beach down a small path. We have an outside shower. It’s possible to kite surf directly at the beach if one is an independent rider. The beach expereinecs a large tidal fluxuation so the pool is a welcome relief during low tide.

Zanzibar is home to some of the best diving in East Africa. Villa Upepo is located directly opposite Mnemba Island marine park where dolphins can be seen and some of the best known dive spots on the island are located. We can arrange diving or boat trips as you require.
Zanzibar has fantastic kiting in the season. Its possible to kits directly off the house beach and also possible to day trip to more classic spots like Paje in the south.
A Social Enterprise
Villa Upepo exists to help support the work of local rural social enterprises. @BBindi_authentic furniture which produces a line of sustainably sourced native hardwood timber, single artisan pieces; exceptionally designed. It also supports the Agro-forestry livelihoods and women’s solar engineering initiative at Barefoot College Zanzibar, founded in 2014 by Bindi International.
The entire staff is local and have huge depth of knowledge about the island, its culture, its food and its most beautiful experiences! They have hosted guests form all over the world and delight in sharing their home with everyone.
Rates
The house is fully staffed with manager, cook and housekeeping.
It is rented on a half board basis: Hot breakfast, afternoon tea and three course dinner are prepared daily and the chef will meet with you to select the menu on your arrival. We encourage guests to eat in the many nearby restaurants along the Bech for lunch but f course the staff can also prepare lunch if required and will charge a basic rate.
$280 pp/pw Children under 12 are free.

Low Season: 1850 pw May,June, July & November
Christmas/New Year 2026 Min stay 10 days $4000
Transfers: both direction are included in the rental. Other journey are paid locally to the taxi drivers.
